Dear Sir:
In reply to your telegram of July l6, 1952, the fol-
lowing is a joint report by Ceptain and First
Officel who were oporating National Airlines flight
42 of July 10, 1952.
The above crew boarded the airplane at Jacksonville,
Florida, making stops at Savannah, Georgia - Charleston, South
Carolina - Wilmington, North Carolina - Richmond, Virginia -
Washington, Naryland an hiladelphia,
. Pennsylvania.
meteors generally descend rapidly This light was
in our view aporoximately ten making no par-
ticular pattern o movenent, ddenly it climbed
rapidly in a turning attitude and disappeared into the.
northwest. Our altitude through this was 1,500
feet above sea level. In our opinion i ould not have
been a light reflection due to cloud formations which
would have been contrary to such. There was only one
light. No photographs were made."

2. A conjecturable opinion, raised by the general description of the object, is
that many pilots, due to the extreme aerial traffic
make a practice of turning on their landing lights prior to entering local traffic
patterns. Thus, the description fits any single jet aircraft which r might have been
